Now in existence for over 3 years, the BIM Institute continues to strive to expand its BIM awareness and support to the SA built environment. It is the Institute mission to set the Building Information Modelling guidelines for South Africa with the hope of setting the BIM standards for South Africa.
The BIM Institute is driving dramatic improvements by developing the blueprints for the standards and requirements of the “Building Information Modelling initiative for Africa,” while promoting software vendors to strengthen South Africa’s construction industry.
The recent online publication for National BIM guide for South Africa is owned and managed by the BIM Academy Africa and is based on the published research by Vaughan Harris, Executive Director to the BIM Institute.
The National BIM guide is based on the international best practice BIM Framework and is delivered through the BIM Institute. This Guide is not intended as a one-size-fits-all document defining the use of BIM on all projects but is developed to help drive dramatic improvements by developing the blueprints of the standards and requirements of the “Building Information Modelling initiative for Africa,” promoting software and digital processes and BIM standards to strengthening South Africa’s construction industry.
