Our awesome guys (and girls) were rocking the Pink in support of #PinkDrive this year!
After much stress about not training, with the exception of course of Philip and surprisingly André (who had the best time overall!) everyone seems to have survived.
Ronel (who was almost ready to go home when she passed the St. John’s bridge) enjoyed her first ride as part of the team while André and Manqoba have shown the most improvement from their first race beating out the (much younger) competition!
Philip led the pack and finished with a time of 2:44 with André grabbing the 2nd place team spot at 3:44.
Some of this year’s Amashova team’s 2 liners:
"Old man Strauss is faster than he looks!!"
"I think next time I need to do some training...it was pretty tough but had a great time doing it."
"6.5 hours, with a puncture and parking on the side of the road waiting for assistance for about an hour or so, along with a buckled rim at that. Hopefully I'll have better fortune in the next race."
"I died somewhere around valley of 1000 hills and woke up after 45th avenue. I had fun; enjoyed every moment; can’t wait to do it again lol…. with a good bike next time around."
"A tough race in A batch where I rode well beyond my fitness. It was satisfying to achieve a personal best time"
The Team is eagerly awaiting the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge in Johannesburg on November 15th and I’m sure we’re going to see much more competition - the Durban crew has challenged the Jo’burg crew and we can’t wait to see who takes the lead for this leg of our cycling season.
